Betting on Saracens v Wasps

Looking ahead once again to the opening set of fixtures in next season’s Aviva Premiership, there may be a little more ante post value in this match as Champions Saracens play host to a Wasps side that struggled with a 9th place finish last time around.

In the close season, Saracens have strengthened their squad with the arrival of the Premiership’s all time leading points scorer, Charlie Hodgson. This can only improve the side and their chances of back to back successes.

Meanwhile, Wasps will be hoping that the arrival of coach Dai Young will give them their sting back as they look towards the possibility of a play off place next time around.

Looking at the betting, a gamble on Saracens to win returns a short odds best price of 2/7 with William Hill while a bet on Wasps could get you as much as 11/4 with either Boyle Sports or Bet Fred.

While it was always going to be obvious that Saracens would head the betting here, those odds do seem a little miserly and with no form going into the game for either side, if Wasps are going to win at Vicarage Road, this would be the perfect time.

Both sides are stronger and the arrival of Steve Thompson from Leeds Carnegie will give Wasps some experience and strength in the scrum and that alone could improve their chances for next season.

Ultimately, it all points to a Saracens win but if you think that Wasps are in with a chance, betting this far ahead will give you the best odds possible so it would be wise to get in quick.
