With the series between England and Sri Lanka consigned to history, the best international team in the world have now arrived on our shores as India prepare for the forthcoming test and one day series in England.
While Sri Lanka are a talented bunch, they aren’t quite so formidable away from home and that resulted in some fairly dire cricket in the first half of this summer. India however will be a different prospect and for most cricket fans, this is the series that we’ve really been waiting for.
But what about the betting for the test series? Looking straight away at the odds, England are slight favourites for the overall win at a best price of 7/5 with Paddy Power and Unibet. Meanwhile, a gamble on India to triumph will return as much as 2/1 with Bet Fred and 888Sport.
When India do take to the field, all eyes will be on Sachin Tendulkar to see whether he can complete his 100th international century. The little master aside, this batting line up has to be the best in the world with the dangerous Virender Sehwag leading from the front and a strong support right through the side.
England on the other hand may argue that they have the in form line up with Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott in the form of their lives.
You’ll notice that we haven’t mentioned the bowling and that’s because it doesn’t quite compare for either side. There are some top bowlers in both line ups but they don’t run through teams and that’s why our recommendation is to bet on a drawn series.
The whole situation could end in stalemate with weather that could also play a part so if you agree, a gamble on a drawn series here will get you as much as 5/2 with most bookmakers including Bet 365, William Hill and Boyle Sports and this seems a good bet. If you want to take that a stage further, things become really interesting and bet on a 0-0 scoreline will return an impressive 25/1, so get on it as quick as you can.
