Gambling on Rugby League matches is a popular pastime amongst the betting fraternity and with its switch to a summer timetable in the UK, happy rugby fans can now bet on games all year round.
This season’s Super League has been fascinating to watch and there have been some upsets on the way which have surprised both fans and punters alike. Welsh side Crusaders were expected by many to mount a serious challenge for the title this time around after making steady progress since their elevation to the Super League a few years ago.
However, a points deduction after financial issues was followed by a poor run of form that saw them rooted at the wrong end of the table for some time and now, with the season heading to its climax, the Welshmen are rock bottom with a miserable 4 points.
Their next game sees them host Salford who aren’t having a great season themselves but you would expect an away win here. However, that isn’t reflected in the odds. As I write, betting on Crusaders to win on the night will return 1/50 with Betfair while Salford come in at 1/25 with the same retailer. If you’re interested, the draw comes in at 21/20.
While neither of those prices seem particularly attractive it seems unlikely that Crusaders have the fight left in them to pull out of this slump so late in the season. The advice therefore is to take a gamble and use some funds on a win for second favourites Salford.
